About
I am a musician, composer from London, England.
Music has always been important to me and am lucky to have always been encouraged in it. My main instrument is the guitar. A choice I found, when looking for a band to join, was also the choice of a lot of other people. Great Minds Think Alike? Perhaps, or more likely because carrying a guitar on your back is a lot more easier than a drum kit. Over the years I have been interested in learning a number of different instruments, resulting in my ability in being able to make a variety of noises. Some more successful than others.
Recently I have been interested in becoming more aware of the sounds making up my immediate environment. An awareness I see as being one of the ideas behind John Cage’s 4’33. It’s pretty cool just what you can pick up when you just sit back and listen, especially in London. This interest has a habit of disappearing, though, when there is building work going on next door. The hammer could be an interesting instrument but I don’t think I’m quite ready for a day long recital.
As a composer I have written for a number of different films, podcasts, adverts, internet games and interestingly a mock apocalyptic radio show! One of the films included myself performing the soundtrack live while the film was being shown. I have also worked as a foley artist for a few films and assisted the artist Silvio Palladino in the creation of a live foley performance as part of a day of Tate Britain Workshops. The idea was to help children and their families in bringing paintings alive.
As a musician I have played in a number of different bands and groups covering a number of different genres. This has seen me play at a number of different venues across the country and a stint on the radio. At the moment I’m playing guitar in Sci-Fi Circus with the talented Simon King and Jildas Lancelot.
